Freddy gets his first safety

Has it been 30 years ago. My God, will somebody please slow down the time. I remember that Sunday like it was just 2 and a half weeks ago. I was one of the 80,000 that was at the Los Angeles Coliseum to see our Los Angeles Rams play the Green Bay Packers. The Rams were undefeated at 5-0. And one week earlier beat the Dallas Cowboys in one of the greatest NFL games ever. For the first five games of the 1973 season, the Ram defense and offense have been awesome. The offense has been so dominate that it only has to punt 3 times a game. Against the Packers they were even better. The Ram defense allowed less than 60 yards for the entire game. The Packers only got 5 first downs. On offense the Rams got 25 first downs, rushed for over 230 yards and Hadl was better than 80% in completed passes.

BUT THE DAY WAS FREDDY DRYER'S

Here is the great Dick Enberg LISTEN

His second safety for the game

Los Angeles Rams 24, Packers 7 -- Oct. 21, 1973

Leading just 13-7 going into the fourth quarter, the Rams scored their final four points on an NFL-record two safeties by defensive end Fred Dryer. He blew past tackle Malcolm Snider twice in a 5-minute span to smother first Hunter and then Del Gaizo in the end zone. "I just got beat," a subdued Snider said after the game. "I'm really embarrassed."
